Susan Kirkman
Susan Kirkman spent her working life as a physicist in the NHS. In pursuit of creative activities, she learned to make pottery and assisted at an evening class. Later, she experimented with modern embroidery and fabric collages.
Early retirement enabled her to study painting with the Open College of the Arts where her local tutor was Robin Child, whose excellent classes she then attended for many years together with other members of the Rosvik group. She also attended etching classes in Bristol, and now has her own printing facilities.
ARTIST”S STATEMENT
Probably because she was originally a scientist, Susan experiments widely with media, styles and techniques. She hopes never to become the sort of artist who, having found a winning formula, repeats it ad infinitum.
